Society for North East Handmade Paper Development (SNEHPAD) is a voluntary organization established in 2005 with its headquarters at Jorhat, Assam. The organization was founded with the vision of promoting village and cottage industries, particularly handmade paper, natural fibre, and other traditional livelihood activities, to create employment and income-generation opportunities for youth and women across Northeast India. Guided by its founding leaders, including Sri Jatindranath Das, Syed Altaf Hussain, and Sri Prakash Thakur, SNEHPAD began its journey by supporting handmade paper and natural fibre enterprises and gradually expanded its activities in response to the needs of local communities. Over the past two decades, SNEHPAD has evolved into a multifaceted development organization working in areas such as handloom promotion, Self-Help Group (SHG) development, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship development, microfinance, skill training, and integrated village development. The organization actively conducts awareness programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and livelihood interventions aimed at improving the socio-economic condition of poor and marginalized communities.

Product Description

Product Overview

The Assamese Buta handwoven stole combines a traditional buta motif with a crimson-and-cream palette to produce an accessory geared to boutique retail and gifting programs. The integrated motif and handloom drape make the stole appropriate for festive wear, curated gifting sets, and boutique collections that emphasize handcrafted authenticity.

Material & Construction

Woven on handloom, the stole emphasizes drape and motif clarity. The construction supports a soft fall and an aesthetic hand suitable for wrapping and layering. For buyers requiring specific fibre properties (weight, sheen, thermal behavior), request a sample swatch to verify whether the stole is eri silk, silk-blend, or cotton-based and to confirm care requirements.

Features & Applications

Boutique accessory retail — the stole functions as a standalone SKU or as part of curated sets with matching garments. Constraint: ensure color harmony across assortments by confirming sample swatches.

Festive wear — the traditional buta motif and crimson accent make the stole suitable for seasonal or occasion-based promotions. Constraint: verify fringe finishing and edge stability for repeated wear.

Corporate gifting sets — the stole pairs well with tasteful packaging and a provenance note. Constraint: request lead-time and sample approval for curated gifting programs.

Buyer Benefits

Designers and buyers receive a motif-led accessory that simplifies assortment curation. The handwoven construction delivers a quality hand and drape appreciated by end customers. Procurement next steps: request swatches to confirm fibre and care instructions, and clarify packaging options for gifting programs rather than assuming bulk packaging standards.
