Society for North East Handmade Paper Development (SNEHPAD) is a voluntary organization established in 2005 with its headquarters at Jorhat, Assam. The organization was founded with the vision of promoting village and cottage industries, particularly handmade paper, natural fibre, and other traditional livelihood activities, to create employment and income-generation opportunities for youth and women across Northeast India. Guided by its founding leaders, including Sri Jatindranath Das, Syed Altaf Hussain, and Sri Prakash Thakur, SNEHPAD began its journey by supporting handmade paper and natural fibre enterprises and gradually expanded its activities in response to the needs of local communities. Over the past two decades, SNEHPAD has evolved into a multifaceted development organization working in areas such as handloom promotion, Self-Help Group (SHG) development, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship development, microfinance, skill training, and integrated village development. The organization actively conducts awareness programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and livelihood interventions aimed at improving the socio-economic condition of poor and marginalized communities.

Product Description

Product Overview

The Kalka Heritage handwoven cushion cover is a decorative textile crafted to bring traditional patterning into contemporary interiors. It addresses the need for visible artisan detail in retail assortments and homeowner collections. The silhouette and motif are selected to pair with both neutral and richly colored schemes, offering a focal accent without overpowering existing furnishings.

Material & Construction

This cushion cover is produced on handloom with a tightly controlled weave to deliver a balanced hand and surface stability. While variant listings specify the exact fibre composition, the construction approach uses hand-tensioned warp and weft to maintain weave uniformity. Edge finishing includes reinforced topstitching to resist seam stress from regular use. The surface finish is left matte to preserve the handwoven texture and to minimize light reflection on patterned areas.

Features & Applications

Living room styling: Use the Kalka Heritage cover as a primary accent on sofas and armchairs to introduce pattern-led contrast. The weave provides enough body for cushions to retain shape while placed on high-use seating.

Boutique retail assortments: The handwoven visual and origin story suit curated shops and specialty home-decor collections that prioritise craft provenance. Pair covers with textured throws and neutral palettes to amplify retail merchandising appeal.

Corporate gifting: Select this motif for CSR-aligned gifting programs where artisan support and sustainable craft narratives matter. The product offers an instantly giftable presentation when combined with simple packaging options.

Buyer Benefits

Buyers gain a textile that couples visible craftsmanship with practical construction. The tight weave and reinforced seams reduce early wear, lowering returns for retail buyers. Sourcing from community craft units supports traceability and offers a documented artisan origin story that buyers can present to end customers. For procurement, verify the selected variant's fibre specification and packaging choice to ensure compatibility with merchandising and shipping requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the recommended retail price range for the Kalka Heritage cushion cover? Pricing depends on variant material and order volume; discuss volume bands with the procurement contact to align margin and packaging choices.
  • How long is the typical dispatch timeframe for mixed orders of handwoven covers? Dispatch is scheduled per production cycle; allow lead time for batch weaving and finishing, and request a confirmed ship date for planning.
  • How should buyers care for the handwoven surface to retain texture and colour? Follow gentle wash or spot-clean instructions; avoid harsh bleaching agents and tumble drying to preserve yarn hand and dye vibrancy.
  • What distinguishes Kalka Heritage covers in weave and finish compared to other motifs? The Kalka motif uses a tighter interlacement pattern and matte finishing to prioritise surface texture and long-term visual stability.
