King Chilli (CapsiclIm chinellse) belonging to the family Solanaceaea, is traditionally cultivated in Assam, Nagaland, Manipur and in small quantities in other North Eastern states of India. The chilli has been called by different names. In Assam, it is mostly known as Bhut Jolokia / Ghost Chilli or Bih Jolokia.

The present crop is from Upper Assam,  cultivated during March / April 2025 and is a fresh crop, large in size. There is a miniature version of the King Chilli, small in size, harvested during the end of second quarter of the year. Yield is best in Nagaland followed by Manipur and Assam, a bit in Mizoram, Meghalaya.

This chilli is also a master blender in spices industry for blending and mixing purposes.
