Easy to Set
Up and Use
Your Compost bin kit is provided with:
1) Compost Bin 2) One iron frame used as partition 3) One tap for draining the leachate 4) One L type tool
Installation:
1) Prepare platform of cement
brick or paver blocks to rest the bin.
2) Place the bin on the platform;
put the threaded tap at the side bottom. Fix the iron frame in the position
provided in the bin.
3) Spread 2 or 3 folds of
news paper or corrugated cartoon on iron frame to protect waste from falling
down.
4) Put 50mm or 2”layer of
shredded dry leaves / coco peat on the partition plate.
Compost Making:
1) Collect your home organic
waste, cut into small pieces (1 or 2 inch) and put into small bucket and
transfer the chopped waste into bin.
2) After putting the waste
level the surface of waste heap by small shovel. Add one small layer of ready
compost on it to cover the organic waste. You can also add cowdung or
buttermilk to initiate the aerobic decomposition process. For the first batch
you can also add one table spoon of bacteria culture to accelerate the process.
Close the lid after putting waste.
3) Follow this procedure till
your bin is half full. There after mix the waste thoroughly.
4) Again go on adding waste
regularly along with compost and culture till the bin is full.
5) The pile has to be kept at
optimum level of dampness. If it is too wet, add dries leaves/ shredded paper
and mix. If is ts too dry, sprinkle some water and mix.
6) For normal household it
takes 6 to 8 weeks to fill up the bin. By the time your bin is full you will
find that some compost is falling down from partition frame into compost
collection box. If compact you can remove the compost with the help of L type
tool provided in the kit.
7) Make it a practice to
remove the compost weekly to make space for fresh waste.
8) If you find leachate in
the compost collection box, remove it with the help of tap as and when
required.
